Journeyman Miniatures is a new event organising team specifically for the miniature painting community, with the tagline on their facebook page “Bringing some of the best artists in the world to the UK for miniature courses”. Sounds pretty good to me, and they look to be following that through, having already brought the mighty Alfonso Giraldes over for a course back in March (you can read a great write up over on Figurementors as one of their team attended). Yes, this means this ‘news’ is a little on the late side, but no matter, these guys are doing something really cool and deserve as much coverage as possible.
Who are they?
Although some of you might not be familiar with the name Journeyman Miniatures, there are familiar names behind the venture, Tim Marsh and Mally Anderson, both are exceptional painters in their own right and are well known and liked within the community.
So far all this sounds very promising, especially considering Tim’s previous experience of hosting and organising painting events at the Cross Keys in (I believe) Hammersmith.
Now that Tim has moved on from the cross keys, he and Mally have decided to take the idea further with mini ‘tours’ by world-renowned painters, designed so that distance becomes less of an issue for people wanting to take part. And a lot of people take part, these events sell out fast, so you might want to keep an eye on their facebook page for updates.
What’s in store for the future?
The line up for courses in the future is very impressive too, with Oliver Späth (HonourGuard) in July (two events, one in Hull and one in London) and Michal Pisarski (Lan Studio) in October (again, two events in London and Hull). Both of these are weekend events with two phenomenal painters and look to be amazing opportunities to learn from the best.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what other events are coming for the future and wish the guys all the best in what is sure to be a successful business!
